Over the last 5 years the world has seen an explosion of craft breweries.
Whether that’s because folks are tired of the corporate labels or because
it’s part of a global movement towards supporting local, the craft brewery industry is unquestionably booming.
It turns out that Vancouver is particularly...well...hopping, when it comes to independent brewers. In 2013, the City of Vancouver changed licensing regulations to allow for “tasting rooms”.
Clearly that was a smart move. The craft brewery scene exploded.
Since then breweries are popping up everywhere including Brewery Creek
(Mount Pleasant), Yeast Van (Strathcona) and downtown. Many can be found
in Richmond, Surrey, New West and other outlying areas. Vancouver Island, Squamish/Whistler and the Sunshine Coast are also populated with unique, locally owned, craft breweries.
