Can We Tell You How Great Vancouver Is?
We love Vancouver! It’s our hometown, where our families live and where we have our small business. We love it so much we take people on tours, so we can share our favorite spots! As it turns out we aren’t the only ones who love it.
From tourism to business travel to ecotourism, Vancouver has so much to offer visitors. According to the 2017 “Global Liveability Report”, Vancouver takes the #3 spot on “the most liveable city in the world”. Liveability is determined by “assessing which locations around the world provide the best living conditions”.
Topping the Lists
Vancouver also took the number 1 position on Trip Advisor’s 2017 Traveler’s Choice Awards of Best Destination in Canada.
U.S. News & World Report rated Vancouver #1 in the Best Family Vacation Destinations in Canada.
And in July 2017, an Ipsos Reid survey ranked Vancouver as the 3rd city in the world to ‘live, do business in and visit’.
Some of the highlights are that Vancouver is ranked #2 for “upscale food options” and “variety of things to do.”
One of the more interesting wins for the city is that in December 2017, Vancouver was voted North America’s highest-rated destination for a business meeting.
The Vancouver Convention Centre Is a Big Winner
The DestinationsMAP - Meeting Assessment Program assessed 40 North American cities. The analysis considers elements meeting planners often consider when choosing a destination for their conference, meeting or other event. Not only was Vancouver ranked the #1 location for a business meeting, the Vancouver Convention Centre ranked #1 in several areas.
There are many considerations but some of the elements bringing the Vancouver Convention Centre to the forefront were venue attributes, including: state of the art technology, quality of on site food, walkability near venue, fast internet, easy to work with staff, and attractive conference hotels nearby.
Interestingly, this notable designation for the Vancouver Convention Centre has just as much to do with it’s internal offerings as with it’s location! The incredible views of the harbour and North Shore surely don’t hinder its' ranking.
The Convention Centre’s downtown location influences it’s ranking too. Located on the water and at the hub of local transportation systems, the location offers easy access to a host of Vancouver’s best attractions.
Vancouver, Truly A One-of-a-Kind Destination
The sea bus that takes passengers on a quick 10-minute ride across the water to North Vancouver, is a 5-minute walk from the Convention Centre. A short walk to Hastings Street will find transportation to Stanley Park, a “405-hectares public park that borders the downtown of Vancouver … and is almost entirely surrounded by waters of Vancouver Harbour and English Bay”. It is a world renowned tourist attraction and one that according to Tourism Vancouver, “is recognized as one of the greenest urban parks in the world”.
Some of Vancouver’s best shopping is found within walking distance of this area too, as are many restaurants and never-ending views of Vancouver’s pristine harbour and North Shore mountains.
All these elements combine to make Vancouver the award-winning location it has become known for. And they are all pieces of what make us love Vancouver. We started Taste Vancouver Food Tours because we recognized Vancouver as a truly unique and genuine city full of interesting history and locally-owned shops and eateries.
One of the highlights for us and for those staying in the downtown core, is our Gastown Food Tour. Gastown is where Vancouver was founded, making it an historically rich location. Besides that, Gastown is globally known for the fashion, design and tech industries that make up the area.
It’s a wonderful snippet of what makes Vancouver great. The water views, the local businesses and the interesting people make Gastown a place that must be seen whether you’re visiting Vancouver for the first time or the 10th.
Our Gastown Food Tour runs Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday during the winter season and more frequently in the spring, summer and fall. We offer Private Tours so you can take the team on a sightseeing, food-tasting trip through Gastown and learn firsthand what makes Vancouver so fantastic.
